Only you can change you. You cannot change someone else, and someone else cannot change you. Change is an internal choice that starts with each individual. There’s an old joke: “How many psychiatrists does it take to change a light bulb?” Answer: “Only one, but the light bulb has to want to change.” Instead of trying to change other people so that they act like us, we should look to change ourselves so that other people’s behaviors don’t bother us. You cannot change anyone other than yourself, and you can only change yourself if you want to change.
